The Toronto Maple Leafs defeated the Columbus Blue Jackets 2-1 in overtime in the NHL early Thursday morning Finnish time.
The Toronto lineup was missing Finnish forward Matias Maccelli. Toronto’s head coach Craig Berube had indeed removed Maccelli from the active roster for the Columbus game.
Maccelli moved to Toronto from Utah this season with high expectations, but the forward’s start to the season has been difficult. He has recorded 4+5 points in 21 games.
This season, Maccelli has been given about 13 minutes of ice time per game. He registered an assist in the previous game, but before that, he had gone six games in a row without scoring any points.
