Goaltender Leevi Meriläinen continues with the Ottawa Senators.

The team announces that they have signed the Finnish goalie to a contract extension. The new deal covers next season and is worth 1.1 million dollars.

Meriläinen, 23, was without a contract, but now his continuation with the Senators has been confirmed. He is set to begin his fifth season in Ottawa.

In the completed season, the Finnish goalie played 20 games at the top level with a save percentage of 86.

Part of the season was spent in the AHL with the Belleville Senators, where he played 19 games with a save percentage of 90.9.

Meriläinen is Ottawa’s own draft pick from 2020, selected in the third round.
