Finland’s 16-year-old NHL super prospect: North America calls!
Finnish super promising forward Luca Santala, 16, is moving to North America for the next season. His new team is the London Knights playing in the junior league OHL.
Santala will be drafted into the NHL next summer. He is expected to be a first-round pick. According to current evaluations by Daily Faceoff, Santala is projected to be drafted as high as number 12.
In recent years, Santala has played in the juniors of Kiekko-Espoo. In the current season, he played 25 games in the U20 SM league with a scoring record of 7+5=12. Additionally, he scored 12+10=22 points in 17 games in the U18 SM league.
Santala represented the Pikkuleijonia last spring at the under-18 World Championships. He recorded 4+2 points in five games during the tournament.
Santala’s father is former hockey player Tommi Santala, who had a long career playing in the NHL, Liiga, with the Lions, and in Switzerland.
