Eveliina Mäkinen’s playing career is over. The news was reported on Sunday by Satakunnan Kansa.

The 31-year-old goalkeeper shared her decision with the newspaper. Mäkinen’s last team was the Swiss Zürich Lions.

– During the season, I realized that I am ready to put my energy into something other than playing hockey.

– The fact that I was ready felt good, Mäkinen told SK.

Mäkinen celebrated winning the World Championship silver once and the World Championship bronze twice, as well as an Olympic bronze during her career. She also accumulated several awards at the club level.

Mäkinen played most of her career in Finland, but she also gained experience in Switzerland, Sweden, and the United States.
