ESPN: Edmonton ready to make a trade – this NHL goalie in sight!
The Edmonton Oilers have started looking for a new goaltender on the NHL player market.
The Oilers’ goaltending situation has been a hot topic in the NHL for a long time. The Canadian team’s number one goalie Stuart Skinner has played 18 games this season with a terrible save percentage of 87.8.
Now the Oilers are believed to be ready to make a trade that would strengthen the team’s goaltending department.
ESPN’s insider reporter Kevin Weekes mentions on X that the Oilers have set their sights on Pittsburgh Penguins’ Tristan Jarry.
– Tristan Jarry is one of the goaltenders who has garnered significant interest as a potential option for the Oilers. It’s worth noting that he played in Edmonton with the Oil Kings, Weekes writes.
Jarry has represented the Pittsburgh Penguins for 11 seasons. The 30-year-old Canadian goalie has played 301 games in the NHL with a save percentage of 90.9.
This season, Jarry has played eight games with a save percentage of 91.4. The veteran goaltender, who was sidelined for three weeks due to injury, made his return to the ice on Thursday when the Penguins defeated the Buffalo Sabres 4-2.
Jarry is earning a salary of $5.375 million until the summer of 2028.
