Elliotte Friedman: a massive information package on Artemi Panarin's situation

The hottest name in the NHL trade market right now is New York Rangers forward Artemi Panarin. It’s rare to see such a talented winger available in a year, so it’s no surprise that there’s quite a buzz around the Russian star in North America.

NHL reporter Elliotte Friedman provided a comprehensive overview of Panarin and the teams interested in him on his 32 Thoughts podcast. According to Friedman, Panarin’s agent would like the Russian star to move to a team that is also immediately offering a contract extension.

– The number I’ve heard and that a few teams have confirmed is 50 million dollars. That’s the amount Panarin is hoping for. Teams can structure it however they want. Do they want to do four times 12.5 million, do they want five times 10 million dollars, Friedman reveals.

Friedman also went through a number of teams that are interested in Panarin one by one.

The strongest contender for Panarin is the Washington Capitals. They want the Russian star only if they can also secure a contract extension with him. According to other teams, the Capitals are aggressively pursuing Panarin.

Panarin himself would prefer to move to the Florida Panthers. However, Florida does not have the capability to offer the Russian star the 50 million dollar contract he is seeking.

The Colorado Avalanche, Dallas Stars, Anaheim Ducks, Carolina Hurricanes, and San Jose Sharks are interested in Panarin, but securing a contract extension is a tougher challenge for these teams.

Additionally, keep an eye on the Vegas Golden Knights, Utah Mammoth, New York Islanders, and Philadelphia Flyers. The Toronto Maple Leafs are not interested in Panarin’s services.
