Eeli Tolvanen’s next NHL contract in his own words
The Finnish forward Eeli Tolvanen, who represented the Seattle Kraken in the NHL for the past three and a half seasons, is still on the free agent market.
The Hockey News commented on Tolvanen’s situation in their YouTube video.
– Tolvanen has scored over 20 goals for Seattle. Last year didn’t go so well, but he is only 27 years old. Many teams looking for a forward could probably get him on a one-year deal, says Michael Augello.
Augello sees Tolvanen’s advantage as being younger than many of the names available on the free agent market.
– I believe he will get a contract, but for a much smaller amount than he has in mind, Augello states.
During the summer, Tolvanen has been rumored to be linked to at least the New York Rangers and the Detroit Red Wings.
Tolvanen, 27, recorded 36 points (12+24) in 78 games with Seattle last season. The season before, he set his personal goal record with 23 goals.
Last season, Tolvanen was also part of the team that won Olympic bronze with the Lions.
In his previous contract, Tolvanen earned $3.475 million per season in the NHL.
In his NHL career, Tolvanen has played 423 regular season games (92+98=190) and 21 playoff games (4+5). Previously, he also represented the Nashville Predators, who drafted the Finnish forward in the first round with the 30th pick in the summer of 2017.
