Many people have surely forgotten that the Florida Panthers were rumored to be planning a trade in 2023 that could have significantly changed many things.
The host of the hugely popular Spittin’ Chiclets podcast and former NHL player Paul Bissonnette stated at the time that Panthers GM Bill Zito was even considering trading Aleksander Barkov.
According to Bissonnette, Zito was contemplating trading his Finnish captain to the Ottawa Senators in exchange for Brady Tkachuk, whose brother Zito had acquired a year earlier.
– This is something I have heard. The potential return of Brady and Matthew together. Barkov would be the guy going the other way, Bissonnette stated in the podcast in the spring of 2023.
However, the trade never happened, and it may not have even been close.
However, the rumor sounds even crazier in hindsight, as everyone knows that the Panthers, led by Barkov, have marched to the Stanley Cup championship in the last two seasons.
