Disappointing season result: NHL team fired its head coach
The Vancouver Canucks announce that they have fired head coach Adam Foote.
Foote, 54, failed in his first season as the Canucks’ head coach, as the team only managed to collect 58 points.
The result was a last-place finish in the entire NHL by a clear margin. As a consequence, in addition to Foote, the rest of the coaching staff was also let go.
Foote was assisted by Scott Young, Kevin Dean, and Brett McLean. Now the Canucks are looking for a new direction and a new coaching staff.
Foote served as an assistant coach in Vancouver for two and a half seasons under head coach Rick Tocchet. As head coach, he was given one season.
– This was a difficult season in many ways, and to be honest, Adam and the rest of the coaching staff faced a challenging situation. Nevertheless, we are now embarking on a rebuild, and we feel that we need new strength for that, GM Ryan Johnson commented in the statement.
– Creating the right environment and culture is now the primary task of our next head coach, Johnson continued.
