Deal with a familiar forward from Kärpät – reinforcement for Carolina from Europe

The Carolina Hurricanes announce they have signed one-year contracts with forward Noel Gunler and defenseman Gavin Bayreuther.
23-year-old Gunler is the Hurricanes’ 2nd round pick from the summer of 2020. The Swedish player, who was on loan at Kärpät last season, recorded 26 points (13+13) in 58 games with the Chicago Wolves last season.
31-year-old Bayreuther joins the Hurricanes from the Swiss top league team Lausanne HC. The experienced American recorded 23 points (5+18) in 52 regular season games in the NHL last season.
Bayreuther has previously represented the Columbus Blue Jackets and Dallas Stars in the NHL. In total, the defenseman has played 122 regular season games in the NHL.
