Dallas Stars receiving a top reinforcement in the NHL
The Dallas Stars are set to receive a significant reinforcement for the upcoming season as veteran forward Tyler Seguin gradually approaches game readiness.
The 34-year-old Seguin returned to the ice on Wednesday and began skating drills nearly a year after his knee surgery.
The Canadian was last seen in an NHL rink at the beginning of December last year. Before his injury, Seguin managed to play 27 regular-season games last season, recording 7+10=17 points.
Seguin’s recent years have been overshadowed by multiple injuries.
The star’s previous season was disrupted due to hip surgery. At that time, Seguin only played 20 regular-season games with impressive stats of 9+12=21. He did return for the playoffs, collecting 4+4=8 points in 18 games.
When healthy, Seguin still offers Dallas significant firepower and experience in the offense. The return of the star, who was drafted second overall in the 2010 NHL draft, would be a valuable addition for the Stars considering the long season ahead.
Seguin’s upcoming season also carries a larger personal stake than usual. His contract, which includes an annual salary of $9.8 million, expires next summer, making it a contract year for the veteran forward.
