Arttu Hyry returns to the Dallas Stars NHL roster just before the start of the regular season. Dallas called up the Finnish forward and Colin Blackwell from their AHL affiliate Texas Stars.

The call-ups are due to the absence situation in Dallas’s offense. The team moved Matt Duchene to the long-term injured reserve list on Thursday.

Duchene, who is suffering from a lower body injury, will be out for at least the first ten games of the Stars. He has been struggling with the injury since training camp, and head coach Glen Gulutzan mentioned on Wednesday that the recovery has taken a bit of a setback.

Duchene’s absence is a significant loss for Dallas. Last season, he recorded 45 points (16+29) in 57 regular season games and continued to perform effectively in the playoffs, where he scored 9 points (2+7) in six games.

Hyry played 20 games in the NHL last season, recording 5 points (3+2). In the AHL, he scored 19 points (9+10) in 27 games.

Hyry had previously been sent to the minors and was set to start his season with Texas. However, plans have now changed before the start of the NHL season.

Dallas opens its regular season on Friday against the St. Louis Blues.
