Connor McDavid startled the Edmonton Oilers during practice on Friday. The superstar crashed hard into the goal and remained on the ice for a moment before getting up while holding his arm.

The incident occurred during the scrimmage portion of practice when Shakir Mukhamadullin knocked McDavid down as he drove toward the goal. McDavid collided violently with the goal and slowly got back up.

According to Ryan Rishaugh from TSN, the situation silenced the arena. McDavid appeared to be in pain and was holding his arm, but he did not leave the ice.

The Oilers’ captain continued practicing and took a penalty shot. McDavid finished it off with an impressive deke.

According to Sportsnet, he still seemed to be holding his arm even after the penalty shot.

The Oilers did not provide an official update on McDavid’s situation after practice.

Another injury situation was also seen during practice when Jason Dickinson had to leave the ice. He returned later but did not participate in the scrimmage portion.

In Dickinson’s place on the Kasperi Kapanen–Trent Frederic line was Owen Michaels.

According to head coach Mike Babcock, Dickinson’s absence from the scrimmage was not due to the incident that occurred during practice.

– We already knew in advance that he wouldn’t play in the scrimmage portion. We knew that before this. We are just monitoring the situation.
