Chris MacFarland, who has served as the general manager of the Colorado Avalanche for the last four seasons, is leaving the team. The Nashville Predators announced on Tuesday that they have hired MacFarland as their new GM.

In addition to his role as GM, MacFarland will serve as the director of hockey operations for the Predators.

MacFarland worked in the Avalanche’s front office for a total of 11 years, with the first seven years as assistant GM and the last four as GM.

The Avalanche celebrated a Stanley Cup victory once during MacFarland’s tenure, in 2022.

– This is a proud organization with a strong history of building teams that the fans in Smashville wholeheartedly support.

– My goal is to build a winning team and work together with the management and our players to create a team that competes regularly for the Stanley Cup, MacFarland commented on his new position in the Predators’ announcement.

In Nashville, 56-year-old MacFarland faces a big challenge. Like the Avalanche, the Predators, who play in the NHL’s Central Division, have made the playoffs only once in the last four years.
