The Carolina Hurricanes have been among the top teams in the NHL for several years and have played well in the regular season, but their playoff journey has always come to an end sooner or later. The team is currently at the top of the Eastern Conference.

The Hurricanes were expected to strengthen their roster at the trade deadline with a new second-line center in mind. Ultimately, the team’s only move at the trade deadline was to acquire the rugged forward Nicolas Deslauriers from the Philadelphia Flyers.

The team’s head coach Rod Brind’Amour expressed his candid opinion about the organization’s actions at the trade deadline.

– I’m being honest, this is disappointing. The players hoped to see us make more moves. It’s tough. We are one of the best teams in the league right now. Teams made acquisitions to catch up to the teams ahead of us, Brind’Amour told reporter Walt Ruff.

– On the other hand, it would be nice to see how the team could be improved. But we love this group. If you make trades, it might disrupt the team chemistry, which I think is at a good level. That’s behind us now, and we need to move forward, Brind’Amour continued.

Carolina lost their last game to the Calgary Flames with a score of 4-5. Next, they will face the Pittsburgh Penguins.
