Carolina was crushed under Montreal’s wheel – head coach scolds his star: “I’ve never seen anything like it”
The Carolina Hurricanes, who had previously handled their two playoff series with a straight 4-0 win, were completely outmatched by the Montreal Canadiens in the Eastern Conference Finals early Friday morning Finnish time.
The Canadiens, who played two seven-game series in the playoffs, secured a crushing 6-2 away victory in Raleigh. Carolina’s head coach Rod Brind’Amour unleashed harsh criticism on his team after the game.
– Our best players had a tough night. This kind of performance doesn’t cut it at this stage of the season, the head coach scolded in front of the media after the game.
Special mention for a poor performance went to the team’s usually reliable star defenseman Jaccob Slavin, whose plus-minus rating ended up at a staggering minus four.
– He had a rough night. I’ve never seen anything like that in eight years, Brind’Amour summarized his star’s performance.
The first line, led by Sebastian Aho, which had previously struggled in the playoffs, started the game sharply. Seth Jarvis scored from Andrei Svetshnikov and Aho’s setup just 33 seconds into the game.
However, these were the only moments of joy for the home team as Montreal scored four times in the next 11 minutes. The visitors’ first line was in excellent form. Juraj Slafkovsky racked up 2+1 points, Nick Suzuki assisted on three goals, and Cole Caufield scored 1+1.
