Canada receives a huge boost just before the World Championships starting on Friday. The country’s ice hockey federation announced on Tuesday evening that NHL legend Sidney Crosby will join the World Championship tournament being held in Switzerland.

The 38-year-old superstar is undoubtedly one of the greatest names in hockey history. The iconic captain of the Pittsburgh Penguins saw his NHL season end when the team was eliminated in the first round of the playoffs – and now Crosby is once again heading to the national team tournament in Canada.

Crosby’s trophy cabinet is unparalleled. It includes two Olympic gold medals, a World Championship gold, a World Cup victory, a 4 Nations tournament championship, and three Stanley Cup wins.

He has also accumulated nearly endless personal awards.

This season, Crosby played 68 regular season games in the NHL, with stats of 29+45=74. In the February Olympics, he served as captain of Canada and led his team to a silver medal.

The Swiss World Championship tournament is Crosby’s second consecutive World Championship appearance.
