Canada announced its star lineup for the World Championships
Canada announced its roster for the spring World Championships on Friday, and once again, there is no shortage of NHL stars.
The team’s brightest names include the sensational NHL player Macklin Celebrini, who placed fifth in the scoring race Mark Scheifele, and the defenseman scoring leader Evan Bouchard.
Celebrini has become one of the most talked-about names in the NHL this season and was one of the league’s biggest sensations. The teenage star, who scored 115 points, was fourth in the NHL scoring race.
Although Canada is once again fielding a notable team, this year’s roster pales in comparison to last spring’s super team. At that time, Canada entered the tournament as a massive favorite to win, but suffered humiliation in the quarter-finals by losing to Denmark.
The World Championships will be held in Switzerland starting May 15. Canada will play its group stage matches in Fribourg.
