Buffalo Sabres pulled off an incredible feat! Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen in a big role
For years, the NHL point machine Buffalo Sabres pulled off an incredible feat last night. The team rose to the top spot in the Atlantic Division by defeating their fiercest rival, the Tampa Bay Lightning, by a score of 4-2.
Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen played a big role in Buffalo’s victory. He made 23 saves, including several big stops in the third period of the game.
Buffalo’s star forward Alex Tuch praised Luukkonen multiple times to the media after the game.
– He stands behind us when we have little or even big difficulties. He was phenomenal today and made big saves when we needed them, and helped our team get two points.
Luukkonen also recorded an assist in the game. Tampa Bay’s Jake Guentzel tried to win a faceoff in Buffalo’s zone in the dying moments of the game and tossed the puck to Luukkonen. The Finnish goalie surprisingly played the puck, leading to Jack Quinn finishing into the empty net.
Despite injuries, Luukkonen is having a strong season. In 33 games, his save percentage has been 91.1.
