Bold claim: NHL legend about to retire
In the NHL, the career of Anze Kopitar, 37, who has been the cover athlete for the Los Angeles Kings for two decades, is nearing its end.
According to NHL insider John Hoven, Kopitar is expected to wrap up his career after the upcoming season.
– Kopitar is not expected to sign a new contract. Enjoy his last season in the NHL, Hoven writes.
Kopitar, who has won two Stanley Cups with the Kings, will earn seven million dollars in his final season of the contract. The star center played 81 regular-season games last season, recording 21+46=67 points, making him the team’s second-highest scorer after Adrian Kempe.
Kopitar has been awarded twice as the NHL’s best defensive forward in his career. In his best season, the skilled player recorded a total of 92 points.
