Big win for Dallas in NHL thriller – Miro Heiskanen has a record-setting evening
The Dallas Stars took the lead in the first round of the playoffs against the Minnesota Wild with a series score of 2-1. The Stars won a thriller that extended to double overtime with a score of 4-3.
The opening goal for the Stars was scored by Mikko Rantanen, who succeeded on the power play just one minute and 25 seconds into the game. Jason Robertson responded with the team’s next goal.
The Wild came back in the game, taking the lead when Marcus Johansson, Joel Eriksson Ek, and Michael McCarron found the net. The Stars equalized midway through the final period with a goal from Matt Duchene. Rantanen assisted on the goal, giving him a total of 1+1 in the game.
Wild’s Danila Jurov took a crucial penalty for delaying the game in the second overtime. The Stars sealed the game on the power play over 92 minutes into the match when Miro Heiskanen shot from the blue line and Wyatt Johnston deflected the puck in.
Heiskanen logged the most minutes of his NHL career in a single game, playing an astonishing 43 minutes and five seconds. Only the Wild’s superstar Quinn Hughes played more in the game (43:47).
Esa Lindell played 30:16 minutes and Rantanen 27:14 minutes.
Minnesota and Dallas will meet again next time on Sunday night, Finnish time.
