Porin Ässät has signed a 1+1 year contract with forward Axel Skinnari. The contract includes a two-month tryout as well as the club’s option for the 2027-28 season.

Skinnari, 22, has played 70 regular season games in the Liiga for HPK over the last three seasons, scoring 3+5 points, and eight playoff games without any points. Last season, Skinnari recorded 1+3 points in 45 games for HPK.

Skinnari is a product of Pelicans. He has also played for the under-20 national team during the 2022-24 seasons.

– Axel Skinnari is an interesting young player who caught my attention already at the U20 level. He is a strong skater and can be dangerous in the offensive zone at his best. Axel’s breakthrough has been hampered by health concerns, but now he is in full condition and has been able to train healthy, commented Ässät’s sports director Jarno Kultanen in the club’s statement.

– We now have a good opportunity to test a young and promising player, as there are questions about the full fitness of some of our forwards, and in the next four weeks before the start of the Liiga, we will play and practice a lot, Kultanen continues.

Skinnari will join Ässät’s training group today, as team practices begin after the self-training period.

"Meillä on nyt hyvä mahdollisuus testata nuorta ja lupaavaa pelaajaa. Hän on vahva luistelija sekä parhaimmillaan myös vaarallinen hyökkäysalueella."
