Surprise transfer: Jokerit goalie found a new team!
The goalkeeper Sisu Heikkeri, 22, who left the Jokers after last season, has found a new club. He is moving to the top league in Great Britain, joining the Coventry Blaze on a contract that covers the upcoming season.
Heikkeri is a product of the Jokers’ youth system. He led the team to the Mestis championship in the spring of 2025, playing 32 regular-season games with a save percentage of 92.6 and ten playoff games with a save percentage of 90.8.
Last season, Heikkeri’s responsibilities were reduced with the Jokers, as he played only 12 games with a save percentage of 87.9. In February, Heikkeri moved to Jukurit on a loan agreement for the remainder of the season as part of a trade and played three Liiga games with a save percentage of 92.4.
Heikkeri would have had a contract with the Jokers for the upcoming season as well, but the Jokers announced at the end of May that the agreement between the parties has been terminated.
– We are excited to have Sisu join our team. He is a goalkeeper with an excellent background, and when he became available from one of Europe’s top clubs, we were presented with a unique opportunity to acquire a quality player, says Coventry Blaze head coach Kevin Moore in the club’s announcement.
– On the ice, his technical foundation is very strong. He tracks the puck exceptionally well through traffic and knows how to use his size to his advantage. He is competitive and never gives up on pucks. He will be a significant asset to our club, Moore concludes.
