The Swedish defender Jakob Ragnarsson, who played for HIFK last season, has found a place to play for next season. He is returning to Allsvenskan to the familiar club, Almtuna IS.

Ragnarsson, 26, represented Almtuna during his junior years and has played in Allsvenskan for six different seasons. Most recently, he represented the club in the 2023-24 season.

In the past season, Ragnarsson played 31 regular-season games on HIFK’s defense, recording 1+5 in points. In the playoffs, he played five games without scoring.

Aside from his stint in Liiga, Ragnarsson’s career has otherwise progressed in Sweden. He has played in Allsvenskan for Timrå IK and Djurgårdens IF in addition to Almtuna. Ragnarsson has played four games in the SHL for Rögle BK.

Ragnarsson is a 3rd round draft pick of the New York Rangers from the summer of 2018.
