Antti Pennanen opened up about the situation of the injured NHL player: “More likely…”
ZÜRICH. Lions NHL defender Urho Vaakanainen practiced with the rest of the team on Monday, but his return to action in the World Championship after three games off is still uncertain.
According to head coach Antti Pennanen, it is quite likely that the defender representing the New York Rangers in the NHL will play.
– It’s more likely that he will be in the lineup than not, but I can’t say for sure yet. This was the last practice after which we can talk to him about how he’s feeling, Pennanen opened up about Vaakanainen’s situation to the media after practice.
Vaakanainen himself was tight-lipped when asked about the nature of the injury that had kept him out.
– I probably can’t really elaborate on that, unfortunately, Vaakanainen simply stated.
Pennanen has a clear view of what will determine the outcome of Tuesday’s game against Switzerland.
– Whichever team defends better, that’s the prediction. Two top teams attacking, which will now face perhaps their first defensive test. Of course, the Americans tested that as well, but I mean a really tough test, Pennanen outlined the decisive battle for group victory on Tuesday.
Both Finland and Switzerland have won all six matches they have played in the tournament so far. The Lions will face a tough crowd on Tuesday in front of a sold-out Swiss audience.
