Anaheim Ducks found themselves in a tight situation in the NHL - these three players are possibly on the trading block.

The Anaheim Ducks have just over nine million dollars in salary cap space. The team needs additional space because their top scorer from last season, Cutter Gauthier, is still a restricted free agent without a contract. Gauthier is expected to receive a significant pay raise.

The situation in Anaheim was further complicated by the massive deal signed by Leo Carlsson. He will earn 18 million dollars for the upcoming season.

The Ducks need to make some moves to create space for Gauthier’s contract. The Hockey News highlighted three potential players who may be traded away from the team. They are forwards Alex Killorn, Chris Kreider, and Frank Vatrano.

Killorn, 36, earns 6.25 million dollars per season and his contract extends through next season. Having represented the Ducks for three seasons, Killorn scored 33 points (15+18) in 82 games last season. A two-time Stanley Cup winner, Killorn had his best NHL season with 64 points.

Kreider, 35, earns 6.5 million dollars per season and his contract is valid for next season as well. Kreider, who joined the team last season, recorded 50 points (22+28) in 75 games. In his best season with the New York Rangers, Kreider finished with 77 points.

Vatrano, 32, earns 4.57 million dollars per season and his contract covers two more seasons. Having played four seasons with the Ducks, Vatrano suffered an injury last season and only managed 9 points (5+4) in 50 games, while in previous years he reached seasons of 41, 60, and 45 points.

It is possible that Anaheim will need to make multiple player trades to create enough space for Gauthier’s contract.
