Montreal Canadiens’ Finnish forward Oliver Kapanen is having an excellent rookie season in the NHL.

Kapanen scored during last night’s NHL round, as the Canadiens lost to the Columbus Blue Jackets after a shootout 3-4.

Kapanen netted his team’s first goal at 1-0. This was already his seventh goal of the season.

With this goal, Kapanen rose to a shared top position in the NHL rookie scoring race alongside New York Islanders’ Matthew Schaefer. Kapanen is on pace for an impressive 30 goals in a full season.

Playing as the center of the second line, Kapanen logged 17 minutes and 30 seconds of ice time.
