The Lions defeated Canada 4-2 in the semifinals of the World Championship and advanced to the final against the tournament host Switzerland on Sunday.

In the Canada match, the Lions’ star forward Mikael Granlund achieved a significant milestone. He assisted on two goals, raising his World Championship points total to 60 after 63 games with a record of 16+44=60.

At the same time, Granlund moved up to third place in the all-time points leaderboard of the Lions in World Championship history. He surpassed Raimo Helminen, who also has 60 points but fewer goals scored.

The all-time points leader for the Lions in the World Championships is Ville Peltonen (34+47=81), which Granlund still has a bit of distance to cover. Meanwhile, the second place holder Petteri Nummelin (15+49=64) is not very far ahead.

Granlund is playing in the World Championships for the eighth time in his career. Previously, he has won two world championships and one silver medal.
