The league’s reigning champion team KalPa may have paid a heavy price for the 4-1 home victory against HPK on Wednesday.
The star forward from Kuopio, Jaakko Rissanen, had to leave the game in the third period. The 36-year-old Rissanen’s leg twisted badly in a battle situation, and he was unable to continue after the incident.
Rissanen’s long-term injury would be a severe setback for the defending champions from Kuopio. The experienced center has amassed impressive points of 10+14=24 in 20 games this season.
