A Russian forward with over 300 NHL games returns to North America after nearly nine years.
Russian forward Alexander Burmistrov, 34, who has also played in the NHL, is making a return to North America after nearly nine years. ECHL team Cincinnati Cyclones announces that they have signed a contract with Burmistrov.
Burmistrov was the eighth overall pick in the first round of the 2010 NHL Draft by the Atlanta Thrashers. In the NHL, he has represented not only Atlanta but also its successor, the Winnipeg Jets, the Arizona Coyotes, and the Vancouver Canucks. In total, Burmistrov has played 348 NHL games, recording 37+64=101 points.
Burmistrov left the NHL behind in December 2017 and returned to the KHL, where he played until last season. He has spent most of his KHL career with Ak Bars Kazan.
Last season, Burmistrov played for the Shanghai Dragons and recorded 0+2 points in 20 games.
Burmistrov has not played in the ECHL before. He has also played a bit in the AHL and OHL across the pond.
