A great tribute to LA Kings legend Anze Kopitar!
The Los Angeles Kings honor their long-time franchise legend Anze Kopitar, who has announced his retirement. The team will retire Kopitar’s jersey number 11 and will also build a statue of him at their home arena, Crypto.com Arena.
Both the jersey retirement and the statue unveiling will take place on February 24, 2027. The Kings will face the Montreal Canadiens on that day.
The Slovenian Kopitar, 38, concluded his lengthy career last season. He played 20 seasons with the Kings, serving as the team’s captain for ten of those seasons. Kopitar won two Stanley Cups with the Kings in 2012 and 2014.
Kopitar played 1,521 regular-season games in the NHL, recording a total of 452 goals and 864 assists for 1,316 points. He is the franchise leader in games played, assists, and points in Kings history.
