A harsh revelation from an NHL reporter about the market value of a Swedish star
Vancouver Canucks’ Swedish star Elias Pettersson has been in the midst of trade rumors for several years. Vancouver’s success has been poor, and Pettersson has not been at his best in recent seasons. A trade for the center could benefit both parties.
Despite all the rumors, a trade for Pettersson has not been close. The Athletic reporter Rick Dhaliwal, who covers Vancouver, made a harsh revelation about the Swedish forward’s situation.
– From everything I’ve heard, trading Pettersson has not been close at all in recent months. The Canucks have never spoken to his agent and said, hey, we have an interested team, would you waive the no-trade clause, Dhaliwal reports.
In other words, interest in Pettersson has been minimal. Trade discussions have not even progressed to the point where Vancouver would need to reach out to Pettersson and ask which teams he would be willing to move to.
Last season, Pettersson recorded 15 goals and 35 assists for 51 points in 74 regular season games. His plus-minus rating was 31 in the negative. His average annual salary is $11.6 million, and the contract runs through the summer of 2032.
