Patrik Laine’s games with the Montreal Canadiens seem to have been played as the parties are currently looking for a new team for the Finnish forward.

Viaplay’s NHL commentator Antti Mäkinen shares new details related to Laine’s trade saga, who has been sidelined for almost the entire season due to injury, in his Kimanttia podcast.

– Don’t be surprised if there is still a trade before the trade deadline. It’s hoped for on both sides. There was hope that a trade would happen before the Olympic break, but it didn’t.

– As a fact, I know that a few teams have inquired about him. Now we just have to see what kind of deal can be made, Mäkinen says.

Mäkinen highlights the Los Angeles Kings as one of the teams interested in Laine, whose star winger Kevin Fiala’s season ended due to an injury sustained while playing for Switzerland in the Olympic tournament.

– They may have interest, but let’s see what happens, Mäkinen ponders.

Laine’s contract, which includes an annual salary of 8.7 million dollars, expires after this season.
