Washington’s long-time superstar has been traded in the NHL!

Washington Capitals’ longtime star defenseman John Carlson is moving to the Anaheim Ducks.
In return, Washington receives a conditional 1st round draft pick either for 2026 or 2027, as well as a 3rd round draft pick for 2027.
Carlson, 36, has represented the Capitals throughout his entire NHL career. He is the team’s first-round 27th overall pick from 2008 and has played 1,143 regular season games (166+605=771) and 137 playoff games (21+57=78) with the team. Carlson won the Stanley Cup with the Capitals in 2018.
This season, Carlson has played 55 games with a scoring record of 10+36=46. His eight million dollar annual salary contract extends through the end of this season.
