Swedish forward Linus Omark, who has had a long career in the KHL, SHL, Swiss league, and NHL, was close to moving to Liiga.

Urheilucast claims that Vaasan Sport was seriously pursuing the 38-year-old World Championship gold medalist forward. However, the player ultimately decided to continue his career with his youth club Övertorneå, which plays in Sweden’s 3rd division.

– According to Urheilucast, Vaasan Sport was seriously chasing Linus Omark for a while. They had a lever brought to the negotiation table by Doug Shedden. Sport even met with Omark regarding him coming to play in Vaasa, claims Urheilucast’s host Esko Seppänen.

Last season, Omark represented Lugano in the Swiss league, where he recorded 11 points (4+7) in 15 games. Before that, the Swede had impressive stats for several seasons with Luleå and Genève-Servette.
