TPS confirmed its roster on Friday night with an effective forward signing. The Turku club announced that it has signed a one-year contract with Lukas Haudum. The 29-year-old Austrian national team forward arrives in the league fresh off being the champion of the ICEHL league and the most valuable player of the playoffs.

The 183-centimeter Haudum was one of the major figures of the ICEHL spring. He led Graz99ers to the championship by scoring impressive stats of 5+12=17 in 12 playoff games.

The forward, who has played in six World Championships for Austria, was also effective in the regular season. He recorded stats of 10+42=52 in 46 games.

TPS sports director Mika Suoraniemi sees Haudum as a significant reinforcement for the team’s center position.

– Lukas is exactly the kind of player we have been looking for to strengthen our center line. He brings experience, high-level hockey sense, quality puck handling, and significant expertise in special situations to our team. His last season was exceptionally strong. The championship and the playoff MVP award speak of a player who can influence winning and take responsibility when the team needs it the most.

TPS player coordinator Tomi Kallio also believes the Austrian will fit excellently into the league.

– Lukas is a skilled and versatile playmaker, who is a strong skater and adept at building plays – a typical top center profile. He sought a new challenge and wanted to move to a tougher league, and fits exactly the profile that was sought, Kallio commented.

TPS is adding a player who has been one of the most visible names in Austrian hockey in recent years.
