The Swedish brothers Ponthus and Pathrik Westerholm are returning to their home country’s hockey leagues. According to Expressen, the new team for the 34-year-old brothers is likely IK Oskarshamn.

The team plays its home games near the brothers’ hometown of Karlskrona, which is believed to be part of the reason for their desire to join a team playing in the Swedish second division, Hockey Allsvenskan.

However, the duo, who represented Lukko for four seasons at a low cost, will not be moving to a second division team. According to Expressen, the brothers’ monthly salary would be around 70,000-100,000 kronor, which converts to 6,500-9,200 euros per player.

The Westerholms made their Liiga debut in Lukko’s jersey during the 2019-20 season. After spending three seasons in the SHL, the brothers returned to Rauma for the 2023-24 season.
