Kiekko-Espoo announced its new CEO on Friday. Starting in early September is Olli Aro, 46, who is currently the CEO of the top-tier baseball league Superpesis.

Aro has over twenty years of experience in sports business and commercial management on his resume. Most recently, he served as the CEO of Superpesis Oy (2023–2026) and led Mestistä in the Finnish Ice Hockey Association (2018–2023).

– Returning to the heart of ice hockey in my hometown is an honor for me, Aro says. The club has an exceptional foundation: a world-class junior organization, a clear value base, and a great return to the League. My task is to build a lasting and professional success story on this foundation, where sporting ambition and sustainable business support each other, Aro states in Kiekko-Espoo’s press release.

– Kiekko-Espoo is more than just an ice hockey team for this city. It is a brand that unites all of Espoo, and it has tremendous untapped potential both athletically and commercially, Aro believes.

Aro faces a significant task in revitalizing the club’s finances in Espoo. The club recorded a loss of 700,000 euros a year ago. Its revenue was 6.1 million euros.
