Swedish newspaper: this is how much the expensive Finnish flops in SHL earn
The Swedish newspaper Expressen has highlighted ten of the biggest flops in the SHL and their performances in a recent article. Among the ten names, there are two Finns.
In eighth place on the list is HV71’s goalkeeper Lassi Lehtinen. The Finnish goalie has played ten matches this season with a save percentage of 86 and has remained in the backup role. Expectations were higher, as Lehtinen earns about 220,000 euros after taxes for the season.
In sixth place on the list is another Finnish name, Malmö’s defender Topi Niemelä. He has recorded 1+6 points in 17 matches. Niemelä’s defensive play received a lot of criticism from the Swedish newspaper. The Finnish defender’s annual salary after taxes was reported to be 160,000 euros.
The biggest flop in the SHL was assessed to be Jakub Vrana, who has had a long career in the NHL. The Czech forward representing Linköping has scored 3+2 points in 12 matches and may be changing teams mid-season. He nets 280,000 euros for the season.
