The Montreal Canadiens have signed a lucrative extension with a star forward known from the Liiga..

The Canadian club announced on Wednesday that it has signed a two-year contract with French forward Alexandre Texier, 26. Texier, who played for two seasons in the Liiga with KalPa, will earn 2.5 million dollars per season from the new contract. The total value of the contract is five million dollars.

Texier joined the Canadiens at the end of November from the St. Louis Blues. The forward, who has taken on a significant role in his new team, has scored 16 points (7+9) in 25 games played in a Canadiens jersey.

Texier’s current contract guarantees the forward a million dollars in annual earnings.
