Sports Cast: Is this Aleksi Saarela’s new Liiga team? “Saarela hunt on the inside track”
The unexpectedly available Aleksi Saarela has caught the attention of two Finnish teams as the centerman has terminated his contract with the Swiss top-tier team SCL Tigers and returned to Finland due to military service.
According to Urheilucast, Lukko and TPS are interested in the 28-year-old forward. Lukko seems to be the more likely option for Saarela’s next season, as indicated by the podcast.
“Lukko is quickly amassing a huge pile of money and is currently on the inside track in the pursuit of Aleksi Saarela. TPS can match the offer, but it is expected that Saarela would rather play in Rauma than in Turku. There has been no word from Pori,” wrote Instagram by Esko Seppänen from Urheilucast.
Saarela recorded 18 goals and 11 assists for 29 points in 49 games played in the regular season of the Swiss league last season.
