Source: Swedish Society signing two Finnish stars
The top team in Sweden’s SHL, Frölunda HC, is holding on to its Finnish forwards.
Hockeynews.se reports that Frölunda is close to extending contracts with Jere Innala and Arttu Ruotsalainen. Both of their current contracts expire at the end of this season.
Innala, 27, is representing Frölunda for his third season. He played last season in the Colorado Avalanche organization in North America. Innala has put up 8+8=16 points in 23 SHL games this season.
Ruotsalainen, 28, who is in his second season with Frölunda, has scored 9+11=20 points in 25 games this season. Before moving to the SHL, he played two seasons in Switzerland and prior to that, two seasons in the Buffalo Sabres organization across the pond.
Both forwards are also familiar faces for the Lions. Innala has played in three World Championships, winning a gold medal and a silver medal, while Ruotsalainen has played in the World Championships once, achieving a silver medal. Both were involved in the EHT tournament in Tampere in November and will also be seen in the EHT tournament in Switzerland in December.
