Source: Here is Pelicans’ new sports director
The new sports director of Pelicans has been found. Barometern-OT reports that the Lahti club will replace HIFK’s sports director with Jarkko Oikarinen, who is coming from Janne Laukkasen at Kalmar HC.
Oikarinen, 41, has served as the deputy director of sports for Kalmar for four seasons. The hiring of Oikarinen was also speculated on Friday by Iltalehti. According to the aforementioned Swedish newspaper, Oikarinen’s transfer has now been confirmed.
Oikarinen ended his playing career in 2020 while wearing Kalmar’s jersey and immediately transitioned to the team’s sports management.
Laukkanen, who left the position of sports director at Pelicans, served as the sports director for the Lahti team for ten seasons.
Sami Kapanen will continue as the head coach of Pelicans next season.
