Sad news from the KHL – former top goalkeeper died at just 39 years old

KHL received sad news on Friday. Former top goalkeeper Aleksei Murygin has passed away at the age of 39. According to Russian sources, Murygin was suffering from tonsil cancer.
Murygin had a long career in the KHL, representing several teams in the league. During his career, he played for Amur Khabarovsk, Metallurg Magnitogorsk, Lokomotiv Yaroslavl, Avangard Omsk, Torpedo Nizhni Novgorod, Neftekhimik, and Kunlun Red Star.
In total, Murygin played 283 regular season games in the KHL. His save percentage was 92.1, and his goals against average was 2.38.
Murygin ended his playing career after the 2022–23 season with Kunlun Red Star.
In the Russian national team, the goalkeeper played a total of ten international matches.
