Praise for the Finnish forward – impressed in his new club: “Super athlete”
Finnish forward Sampo Ranta, 25, has changed teams in the Swedish SHL. Ranta, who represented MoDo Hockey for the past two seasons, signed a two-year contract with Örebro HK in April.
Ranta has received praise from his new team’s strength coach Andreas Berglund. He is impressed by Ranta’s training, reports Hockeynews.se.
– Sampo is a super athlete. It’s fun to work with a guy like that. He generally seems interested in training, Berglund says according to Nerikes Allehandan.
According to Berglund, Ranta has shown great commitment to training, which is not always a given with foreign players.
– If I had to name someone who has developed, it would be him, Berglund states.
Last season, Ranta played 48 games for MoDo, recording 10+15=25 points. During his years in Sweden, Ranta has also represented the Lions in the EHT. Before moving to the SHL, Ranta played in North America, where he also appeared in 16 NHL regular-season games and two playoff games with the Colorado Avalanche.
