Petteri Lindbohm left TPS – reveals the reason for his transfer: “Might be the best in Europe”
Finnish defender Petteri Lindbohm, 33, left TPS earlier this week and moved to Sweden for the remainder of the season. He signed a contract with Färjestad BK for the rest of the season. Now Lindbohm has opened up about the background of his transfer.
Färjestad announced Lindbohm’s acquisition on Monday. The experienced defender arrived in Karlstad on Wednesday and participated in his new team’s practice for the first time on Thursday.
Lindbohm told the Swedish newspaper Nya Wermlands-Tidningen that he didn’t have to think long about the opportunity offered by Färjestad.
– When at this age you get the chance to play for a team that might currently be the best in all of Europe, the decision was easy. I am really happy about this contract, Lindbohm said to NWT according to Hockeynews.se.
Färjestad is currently at the top of the SHL. They have lost only one game this season, and that was after a shootout. After 14 games, Färjestad has collected 39 points with an impressive goal difference of 58-17.
Lindbohm describes himself as a defensive defender whose goal is to bring confidence and stability to Färjestad’s defense.
At Färjestad, Lindbohm will also get to play with Finnish goalkeeper Emil Larmi. The duo already managed to have dinner together before Lindbohm’s first practice.
– I have talked to Larmi a bit. I promised him that if this contract goes through, I will treat him to dinner. He is a great person, so it’s wonderful to be on the same team with him, Lindbohm said.
