Aleksandr Ovetshkin in trouble in the NHL – Russia delivered a full blast
Washington Capitals’ Russian star Aleksandr Ovechkin has been struggling lately in the NHL. The all-time leading scorer in the league has played nine consecutive games without a goal.
Ovechkin’s goalless streak continued in the early hours of Wednesday as Washington lost to the Dallas Stars 5–6. The Capitals rallied from a four-goal deficit to come within one goal, but the Russian veteran could not add to his points total.
Ovechkin’s poor performances have led the Russian media to criticize him harshly. Sport24 gave the Washington captain a tough review after the Dallas game.
– Another colorless game from the greatest goal scorer in the history of world hockey, the site wrote.
Sport24 also noted the moment when Ovechkin helped his teammate Jakob Chychrun, who had lost the blade of his skate, to the bench. The site took advantage of the situation to poke fun at the Russian star.
– It seems that Ovi would be very good at curling!
Ovechkin has gone without a point for six consecutive games. He was not involved in any of Washington’s five goals against Dallas.
The 41-year-old Ovechkin’s start to the season has been lackluster statistically. He has scored only one goal in 14 games and collected a total of four points (1+3).
