Olli Jokinen’s straightforward words: “Sometimes it’s not worth being so honest”
The season for HIFK came to an end on Thursday. KalPa won the decisive match of the playoff series in the first overtime with a score of 3-2.
HIFK’s head coach Olli Jokinen was pleased with his team’s performance in the first two periods. He would have hoped for more efficiency from his players, especially in the second period.
– A catastrophic start to the third period. It took about three minutes before the first one went in. Then another one followed, Jokinen recapped Petr Kodytek’s ejection and KalPa’s two power-play goals.
– Congratulations to KalPa. They were that much better. I am extremely proud of our players for how they have handled the storm throughout the season and how we managed to gather players together and get guys healthy towards the end of the season. Of course, Kodytek’s ejection and Revon’s injury affected the play at the end, but this is how sports are.
Jokinen also summarized HIFK’s exceptional season.
– It has been a very tough and eventful season. The organization has continuously supported the coaching staff. The fan community has been fantastic and has never left us alone at any point. Of course, we have demanding fans, as it should be, but the support has always been present, Jokinen commented.
– It has been an educational season. I have also learned that it’s not always worth being so honest.
