Finnish forward Aatu Jämsen continues his career in North America. The 23-year-old winger has signed a one-year two-way NHL contract with the Los Angeles Kings. The contract is worth 850,000 dollars.

Jämsen has played the last two seasons with the Kings’ AHL team, the Ontario Reign. Last season, he appeared in 59 games and recorded 16+12=28 points.

The NHL debut is still pending, but the new contract gives him another opportunity to fight for a spot on the Los Angeles Kings roster next season.

The 187-centimeter forward is a product of Pelicans. He represented the Lahti club in the Liiga from 2021 to 2024. Jämsen gained wider recognition among hockey audiences particularly in the 2022-23 season when he collected a total of 32 points in 43 regular season games.

Tappara was also interested

There were also transfer rumors about Jämsen’s future in the spring. Urheilucast reported in March that Tappara was interested in the forward’s services. According to host Esko Seppänen, Tappara’s GM Janne Vuorinen had been in contact with Jämsen and traveled to meet him in person.

However, Jämsen’s extension with the Kings means that a potential transfer to Tappara will not happen at least for now.
