Vegas Golden Knights lost to the Carolina Hurricanes in the Stanley Cup finals in the first overtime with a score of 3-4. The series between the teams is now tied at 1–1.

The decisive moment of the match came when Vegas’ Ivan Barbashev swept the puck into the net with five minutes left in the third period. The goal was disallowed due to goaltender interference, as Barbashev, rushing to the net, was in contact with Carolina’s Frederik Andersen.

Vegas head coach John Tortorella still decided to challenge the call. The goal was still not accepted, and Carolina went on a power play during which Jordan Staal scored to give the Hurricanes a 3-2 lead.

Although the poor challenge had a huge impact on the outcome, the head coach did not regret his decision in the post-match press conference.

– I saw the loose puck in front of Freddy. Our player poked it, did not move the goalie, and the puck went in from the other side. I would challenge it ten times out of ten, Tortorella said firmly.

From the overhead camera, it strongly appears that the Vegas player clearly moves Andersen. You can watch the situation for yourself below.
